The Power of Twilio
Imagine FedEx for a moment. It is a global company that has established a logistics network to send urgent documents and packages pretty much anywhere in the world. It has
regional and local distribution centers, as well as trucks and partners to ensure that the goods make it to their destination.
Twilio is like the FedEx of text messages and phone calls. It has established regional data centers (large information technology warehouses) around the world that ensure messages and calls are routed to the right location.
Twilio has also established relationships with all of the world’s wireless networks so that those text messages can be sent over any wireless network in the world. By establishing this global infrastructure, it saves its customers the frustration of having to try and do it by themselves.
Twilio’s customers are already utilizing this powerful communications network.
You may have experienced some of these already, like simple notifications that your package is on the way, or that a delivery will be arriving soon. You may also have received a verification code on your phone that you are required to type into a website to verify an account or transaction.
If you have experienced these types of interactions, in most cases, you have been using Twilio’s technology. You just didn’t know it. And if you are interested in trying it out yourself, there’s an easy way to demonstrate it.
Bessemer Venture Partners understood the technology and how it could be used when they offered the initial $12 million to Twilio. Bessemer created its own conference line with a recorded message. The message is for the “Term Sheet Hotline
for Bessemer Venture Partners.” It became quite famous and Bessemer left the conference line open. If you have a minute, use your smartphone and call +1-650-451-1423.
It will prompt you to “press #1 for a $15 million term sheet,” “#2 for a $20 million term sheet,” etc. Choose one of the term sheet options and within moments you’ll receive a text
message. That’s Twilio.
Major brands like Netflix, Airbnb, Trulia, Nordstrom, Dell, Lyft, Twitter, Yelp, Walmart, eBay, and more than 40,000 others use Twilio to power their communications platforms
Twilio (TWLO) is a strong buy up to $25.
Initially, I’ll set the trailing stop loss at 30% below current levels, which now would be $17.
